Flamingo surface pattern design - from watercolour to final product

Sarah has just completed this new surface pattern design based on her original watercolour illustrations.

As you can see in the following two photos, Sarah likes to work directly in her Moleskine sketchbook, working freely until she is happy with her work.

Once Sarah has completed her illustrations they are scanned into the Mac, cleaned up and taken into Adobe Illustrator where she starts to design the surface pattern. Sarah will produce various colour ways and design options, often combining several illustrations to add depth to her work. It’s important that the design works as a repeat pattern and by working in Adobe Illustrator means that the design can be produced at any size.
